Hi Nicola,

Currently, there isn't a way to specify a due date when emailing a card to a board. We are working a new feature that will help automatically assign due dates and even create action items but in the meantime, there maybe a workaround using Automation.

You can add a label to a card created by email by editing the subject line and using #labelname (or #label_name if there are spaces in the name).

More detailed instructions and feel free to ask follow up questions if this isn't clear.

  1. Open Automation tool by selecting the button in the top right navigation bar.
  2. Select “Rules” > “Create Automation”.
  3. Click “+Add Trigger”.
  4. Select the “+- Card Changes” tab.
  5. In the first option, you can set the trigger to be when a label is added to a card by you. Select the label to use.
  6. Click the + button.
  7. Select the “Dates” tab.
  8. In the second option, you can set the due date to today or choose another unit of time. Works similar to setting up a recurring calendar event.
  9. Click the + button.
  10. Click “Save”

So you could create a label named “due today” and then when forwarding the email, change the subject line to include “#due_today”. And the automation will be triggered when the card is added to the board with that label. You could also create a label called “due next week” and then have the automation set the date to the next Monday, as an example.
