How we enjoyed Trello Day at Atlassian Summit 2018!

Atlassian Summit 2018 was held in Barcelona on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September. For the first time, it had a day dedicated to Trello, productivity application and project management. In #TrelloDay, new features were presented, the latest actions taken by the company were discussed, and we could learn in the talks about new workflows, awesome tricks and new power-ups. #BarcelonaTrelloEvents we were there and we told you how we lived it!

Keynote by Michael Pryor, Trello's head of product

He highlighted that Trello has reached 35 million users and more than 100 power-ups (extensions) has been released. Boards were shown of stakeholders and representative users such as Fornite developers and ONGs such as Unicef and ClimateAction.

Michael Pryor, Trello’s Head of Product, presents Trello Events worldwide in his Keynote at Atlassian Summit 2018

After a brief review of the history of Trello, Michael talked about the latest innovations that Trello has recently been incorporated, such as the Home view, which has had admirers and detractors, and the launch of enterprise permissionsfor Trello Enterprise users. Also focused on mobile users with the launch of Emoji Reactions.

Next steps in the roadmap

Michael explained that one of the keys to follow the expansion, and captivate new users, is to continue improving the user experience in the mobile version. -we would love to be able to access more power-ups (recently you can usecustom fields in mobile version too!)-. It also showed the development of a sub menu in public boards that includes buttons and counters. This will allow for a better evaluation of the impact of public boards to extract Key Performance Indicators.

To conclude the presentation, he presented the worldwide launch of TRELLO EVENTS, Trello's official events program that has leaders spread around the world. He mentioned that events are already being developed in dozens of locations such as Dallas, Seattle, India and Barcelona! Trello Events is the newest addition to the strong community of Atlassian User Group events. For nearly a decade, Atlassian customers have come together to network, share ideas, solve problems, and find new ways to use Atlassian products. Today, more than 15,000 people take part in Atlassian user groups in more than 30 countries. There's probably an Atlassian User Group near you! Click here to see groups near you.

Stella Garber: "How we operate as a remote team"

6 highlighted fundamental factors for the correct development of a remote work team:

  • Become aware of the remote team and its implications.
  • Workers must have a dedicated space separated from the rest of the house.
  • Quality tools Trello subsidizes the acquisition of tools and office equipment for remote workers.
  • Overcommunicate: although it seems redundant.
  • Annually team offsite: Occasionally meetings of the entire team to unite the human relationship.
  • Matching work hours to be able to organize meetings even if the equipment is distributed in different time zones.

At the breaks we could see many start-ups of the Summit stands, networking with collaborators and enjoying a buffet of Mediterranean food that pleasantly surprised the guests.

The day at the Summit concluded with the delivery of the SHIP IT LIVE awards. Contest where teams of programmers compete against the clock to launch an incredible project! The winning project was Awesome Tables developing a plug-in for Confluence and Jira that transforms spreadsheet data and tables squares into incredible interactive graphics.

The evening party was in Olympic Port where Atlassian had prepared the afterparty in the 3 representative venues of Barcelona.

There was a local cuisine buffet such as seafood cocktail, Iberian ham, gazpacho, and classics such as omelette and bread with tomato.

Each of the 3 clubs had its own style of music with live music performances and DJs entertaining the great end of the party. An excellent celebration! See you at Summit 2019 in Las Vegas!
