Exciting news: Say hello to AI-powered email-to-board in Trello! πŸ’Œ

Let's sprinkle some magic into your workflow with the enchanting AI-powered email-to-board feature in Trello!  It aims to reduce manual data entry and streamline tasks.

This feature will be available on Premium and Enterprise Workspaces at the end of October.

What is AI-powered email-to-board?

Imagine the magic of turning your emails into Trello cards with just a snap of your fingers! Yes, it's like having your very own wizard companion organizing your thoughts effortlessly. Picture this: your messy inbox transformed into beautifully structured Trello cards, ready for you to conquer your tasks without the need to sort through and trying to make sense of the information.

Feeling overwhelmed by reminders? No worries! Simply forward that pesky reminder about applying to grad school to your Trello board, and watch as our Atlassian Intelligence crafts a detailed to-do list for you. It's like having a personal assistant right at your fingertips!

Let the transformation begin! 🌟

How does it work?

Let's delve into how you can supercharge your Trello email-to-board experience in 4 simple steps:

  1. Activate Atlassian Intelligence in Trello:

    • Make sure you're in a Premium Workspace or Enterprise Organization.

    • Learn how to unleash the power of AI in Trello by following this guide.

  2. Discover your board's email address:

    • Log in to Trello and open your desired board.

    • Find the "Email-to-board" option in the menu on the right side of the board.

    • Choose the list where your emailed card will land.

3. Send your email magic:

  • Compose or forward an email to your board's unique email address.

  • With Atlassian Intelligence enabled, your email becomes the prompt that will be intelligently summarized for you including action items and due dates.

  • Atlassian Intelligence will summarize the email subject and body to create relevant card titles and descriptions.

  • When you send an email, all your attachments will seamlessly appear on the card, making it easy to access and share important files. Plus, with a generous 10MB email size limit, you can include everything you need without worry. Forget about images getting lost in the description - they'll be added as attachments for quick viewing. Your content shines without any hassle!

Note. You can also choose to view the original email as an attachment and as a preview of the generated card.

Mobile Access

While AI email-to-board is currently available on desktop, you can manage email-to-board settings via the Trello Android app.

For the AI version of this email-to-board feature, you will need to first ensure the Atlassian Intelligence is enabled by an admin of the Premium Workspace or Enterprise Organization. Thank you so much for this update. I would love to see a way to email to multiple lists on the same board. I am currently using a browser extension for this but would love to use built-in Trello features. Either way, cool feature!

I played with this a fair bit.

I love it for forwarding flight or hotel bookings to Trello.

πŸ”₯Remember you can prompt the AI when you forward the mail.  I emailed a flight confirmation to Trello with the prompt:

Summarise the flight booking details in the description, create checklist of things to do before departure create a checklist of things to pack

This is what Trello emAIl to board created:

Great feature!

i was wondering if anyone worked out how to automatically add a member, label or due date reminder to it?

it tried in various ways but that does not seem to work yet.

Due dates work as well as checklist dates but I believe labels and members aren't available yet...

Femke Lucassen November 15, 2024

Die dates work perfectly.

But reminders seem not possible (yet)

Maybe i am missing a trick?

Ahhh, you have stumbled across an issue that exists in Trello automation also.

I have a workaround for that, I will write up a guide on Saturday and link to it on here.

@Femke Lucassen It is a little complicated but once you have your API key and Token, I hope you can just copy/paste from the article for it to work. If you do get stuck, let me know and I'll happily help more

Great! What about security? Is it also possible to send it encrypted?
