How to keep my Atlassian Expert status?

Ben April 12, 2023

Hi,

I just got an e-mail that I've to take related badges to keep my Atlassian Expert status.

To become and Atlassian Expert I took the following exams:

ACP-120

Jira Administration for Cloud
ACP-420Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud
ACP-620Managing Jira Projects for Cloud
APB-220Confluence Space Administration

1.)

As you can see, I've taken one "APB"-Pro badge "Confluence Space Administration" to become Atlassian Expert.

Now, I would like to renew my status. On the page of the APB-220 exam https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/850541-apb-220-confluence-space-administration there is one point "Maintain your Pro Skills Badge", which links to this page: https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/852332-earn-your-pro-skills-badge

However, on the second page I can't find information on how to maintain the APB-220 badge.

2.)

For the other exams, for example ACP-620, the related badges are mentioned on this page: https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/836788-maintain-your-certifications

So I guess, to maintain "ACP-MJCP Managing Jira Projects for Cloud" I could take one of these courses:

  • Issue Security in Jira
  • Confluence Space Administration
  • Jira Governance and Housekeeping

As I've already taken "Confluence Space Administration" to become an Atlassian Expert, I think I can only choose between the other two. So let's say I'll take "Jira Governance and Housekeeping" to maintain "ACP-MJCP".

To maintain "ACP-JCA Jira Administrator for Cloud" I then could only take "Issue Security in Jira".

How could I then maintain "ACP-MJSP" as there is no pro-badge left?

Maybe I did not really understand how the maintaining of Atlassian Expert status works.

Thanks for your help,

Ben

Hello @Ben

One thing you didn't mention is when your certifications are set to expire.  You don't have to worry for until the certification is set to suspended (3 months before the 2-year mark, or 21 months after you received the certification).

It sounds like in order to keep current and maintain your Atlassian Certified Expert status, you have to keep your ACP-JCA and ACP-MJCP current.  I don't believe ACP-MJSP is due since you probably took that later.

But I won't know for sure until you share when your certifications will expire.

Thanks for your answer. I received 2 E-Mails.

In the first one it said:

"Your Atlassian Certified Expert standing will expire on Sep 13, 2023."

And in the second one it said:

"Your Atlassian Certified in Managing Jira Projects for Cloud certification is scheduled to become Suspended on Oct 11, 2023, and Expire on Jan 11, 2024."

More exact dates can be found in the Certification Portal under Credentials.  Have you looked there to see when all of your certifications expire? https://www.certmetrics.com/atlassian/
