Reminder on certification renewals

Hello Training & Certification group!

Last year Atlassian introduced a new way to renew your certifications by completing FREE coursework or attending Atlassian events.

This post is a friendly reminder about the new method for those of you that have certifications set to expire in early 2025.

Certification holders (candidates) can use continuing education (CE) units to renew their certifications. CE units are earned by completing courses on Atlassian University, attending a Community-Led Class, or watching the recording if you are unable to attend. CE units can also be earned by attending Atlassian events — either a local ACE or a global Atlassian event.

As a reminder, all Atlassian courses are now completely free. The same is true for Atlassian’s Community-Led Classes and attending local ACEs. This means renewing a certification can be completed at no cost!

For more details, please visit the Maintain your Certification page.

To view the status of your certification(s), along with the suspension and expiration dates, log into CM Connect and navigate to the Credential Status page

What if there is not enough time to renew before my certification expires?

If you don’t have enough time to renew, please submit a support ticket and request a one-time exception to have your certification(s) extended for six months. Please be sure to include your CM Connect ID (ATnnnnnnnn) associated with the certification(s).

Thank you!

Thanks for this.  I was looking at my certification status last night and saw that a skill badge and cloud certification were both suspended.  I hadn't received an email about these and its not very clear to me how to maintain them.

I've been to multiple ACE events, but none of them have counted since I registered for the events with my business address.

Hi @Rob Horan The skills badges have been retired and cannot be renewed. Please submit a support ticket to have your ACP-JCA extended.

You can use the ACE events to renew; the address you use to register for events does not matter.

I hope that helps!

I read through the new way to renew when it was first announced and again last month. I find it a bit confusing as well, like Rob was mentioning in his comment. I get what we need to do (I think), like take training, join events, and so on.

What isn't clear yet is how Atlassian knows we did these things, example, I took a bunch of training in December, none of it counted towards my renewal. I also attend the community training events online all the time, those I know I am supposed to send to someone or something for credit I guess so those haven't been counted yet obviously.

Anyway, I will deep dive how to renew after I finish my next cert to understand what's going on. Would be awesome if when I did training or attended an event it automatically gave me credit though, seems this would save Atlassian resources and save us time as Atlassian knows what training I have completed and what I have attended because I do get emails from them asking me to do surveys for them all the time.

Wonder if lettings us have a test options also on renewal would be a good thing, Azure does this, free test for renewal and its an open book online test.

Hi @Ree Kent thanks - I do have a support ticket in, waiting for an update.  I assume there must be some association with the registration address, otherwise shouldn't I see something here?

@Rob Horan @Jason Krewson There is no integration between the systems. You need to manually enter your activities for now.

Thanks for the reminder @Ree Kent!  However, I made sure I was good until 2026 back in October ;)

I attended an event yesterday, how do I get credit for it?  Is there anything I need to submit or should it automatically apply the credit to my account?
