Hello guys,
My plan for this year will be to get rid of weekly status meetings which are time consuming especially when a large group of people is attending those meetings.
The first tool that I have in mind will be Atlas which I will use to provide a high level status update about one or more ongoing projects.
The second tool that I have in mind will be Confluence which I will use to promote the 3 types of ideation (brainstorming, decision making, project planning).
Thanks for the opportunity to share share my ideas :)
Async pre-work - I'd like to encourage this throughout my company to get everyone on the same page so we can spend time wisely in meetings.
Going to experiment with Atlas - I'm fortunate that our company allows freedom to try tools, I'd like to see how it goes before recommending.
Hi! I am playing the role of a Scrum Master for distributed Team in a Global Program. I intend to apply Atlas to minimize Status meetings and Loom to enhance Team productivity and eliminate unnecessary meetings.
I run a team with folks spread across Sydney, Singapore and Penang, and these asynch ideas are just brilliant. I'm planning to start with small changes, but leaning into a Working Agreement seems a good place to start. I'll start using Messaging tools with more purpose and really like the idea of video messaging as an asynch tool. Both seem very practical and easy to experiment with...
Can we use the Async Collaboration Tools in-place to replace the daily stand-ups meeting for remote, globally located team? Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Confluence and Atlas!
It just changed my perception! I use to have face to face meetings and always thought that its the most up thing but now i am on the ship of Confluence and Atlas to make it though. Thanks!
Hello
I d like to try ideation with a whiteboard,
and sending documents link for feedback to be reviewed 2 days later.
I am looking forward to using Whiteboards as soon as it becomes available in Confluence. We can use this for our brainstorming sessions as part of the async pre-work before the decision making meeting a few days later.
I am also planning to try out Atlas on better status reporting and aligment between teams.
We have many distributed teams working on many projects at the same time with a frequently changing priority list. So, its very important to enhance async collaboration of distributed teams by also taking under consideration the changes on the priority list. This means that status reporting is vital not only for the management to track at a high level, but also for the teams to log where they left off and to know where to pick up from when they switch back.
Slowly start leveraging Atlas for project updates with some early adopters to highlight the benefits of providing updates this way
Gather a group of champions that can start leveraging confluence and whiteboards for prep-work
I would love to incorporate Jira or Trello with my team and set expectations for them to use this to track their work tasks and activities. I think the whiteboard tool would be great for this as well.
I also would like to start sending out pre-work emails and ensuring the team come into our 1 on 1 and coaching meetings prepared with pre-work completed so that we get more out of our meeting and don't need to spend longer periods of time in the meeting.
Too many times we try to focus on hard and difficult solutions instead of trying to simplify things. I will for sure use these tips & tricks to improve our work environment.
I am more keen on trying Atlas with Jira and Confluence.
Asynchronous Tool: Slack - I will intentionally disable notifications to minimize distractions and establish dedicated times to check and respond to messages. This allows for focused work and better time management, ensuring efficient communication without constant interruptions.
Asynchronous Tactic: Feedback and Collaboration - Setting specific deadlines for stakeholders to provide feedback and team members to collaborate, creates a structured workflow. This approach optimizes everyone's time, encourages thoughtful responses and fosters a creative and innovative environment.
Leveraging these asynchronous strategies before synchronous strategies enables better communication, improves productivity and achieves effective time management.
We're currently trying a asnyc stand-up for certain days of the week, instead of jumping into a meeting, we sent the status via the bot and can review the status of each participant in a Slack channel when posted. The bot also has a jira integration, so we can also add jira issues to the status.
Two async tactics I intend to implement this year are using video messages to give a brief overview of an idea or project for those involved to review at their convenience, and using status tools like Atlas to avoid unnecessary meetings while keeping all parties abreast of the situations at hand as efficiently as possible.
Asynchronous collaboration of distributed team course shows me a new way to handle distributed team in effective way.
Really it works well in many ways. Confluence page and whiteboard tool is very interesting.
Nice proposals for async collab, also interesting for me in my role as a scrum master.
What I didnt know was the feature of getting the sticky notes directly into Jira issues, but as I understood it is working with Confluence Whiteboard? That is not activated in my configuration so far. I will continue to stay tuned :-)
I like to use metroretro.io and lucidchart as tools!
I will definitely try to get my team to do both pre-work and post-work with Confluence by providing feedback before the sync meetings. Additionally, I would like to try Atlas to free up time in my calendar and avoid those boring update meetings every week.
I'll see how it goes ;)
Two async ways of working that i plan to introduce is:
1. revamp my status report into some dynamic reporting pages in confluence
2. introduce Atlas for status meetings
we are always looking for ways to replace meetings so this will help us a lot!
Using the powerful combination of Jira Work Management, Confluence and Miro is a game-changer in Async collaboration! When used correctly and in-tandem, it boosts team cooperation and productivity leading us all towards the goal in a satisfying and timely manner.
I'm part of DevOps team and we are adopting following async approach:
1) "one backlog" = all the work from different stakeholders and projects visible in one Jira project. This also mean whole team will follow common ways of working
2) Status updates as a comment in Epic = this is to ensure all in the team will know what has been done, is in progress, or has to be refined/to do.
As a new product manager, I'm looking forward to using white board tools for brainstorming, decision making and outlining the tasks required to successfully initiate and carry out each project. It's pretty neat that you can convert these tasks directly to Jira tickets.
Also looking to introduce pre-work documents on Confluence and video messages for context in order to have more effective meetings.
