Defining a Team Poster and Roles and Responsibilities will take the team's startup well. A clear understanding of expectations will improve teamwork and collaboration. Also, it will establish accountability within the team which will eventually lead to increased productivity and better overall performance.
My team is a newly created distributed team, so in my opinion, we would definitely benefit from setting up a Team Poster, defining Roles and Responsibilities and agreeing on a Working Agreement though plays.
The company I work for is still standardizing the workflow and the responsibility matrix is unclear for new employees. I believe all these plays will be very welcome and learning them will help me improve the team's relationship.
I am working in Software Company in which, we are already using Jira and Confluence for Project Management and documentation, so I am aware about the the basic functionalities and user interface. All the four plays are interesting and useful. We are preparing presentation as a part of process when new project started which includes the information about team members, goal of the project, roles and responsibilities of each team player. After exploring all the plays now I am exited to use all plays in place of preparing presentation. I like the "what I think about my responsibility and what others this about my responsibility" point in Roles and Responsibility play, it will clear most of the misunderstanding about each team members roles and responsibility in the project before it get started. I am sure all four plays will make the overall Project management process easy, precise and fast.
As an individual who will use roles and responsibilities to guide my team, I would start by clearly defining the objectives and goals of the team. This would involve breaking down the larger goal into smaller, manageable tasks and assigning them to team members based on their strengths, expertise, and availability.
Once the roles and responsibilities have been assigned, I would communicate them clearly to each team member, ensuring that they understand what is expected of them and how their role fits into the larger picture. I would also encourage them to ask questions and seek clarification if they are unsure about any aspect of their role or responsibility.
To ensure that everyone is on the same page, I would hold regular check-ins with the team, providing feedback and support where needed. This would also be an opportunity to review progress towards the larger goal and adjust roles and responsibilities as necessary.
It's important to remember that roles and responsibilities are not set in stone and may need to be adjusted as the project progresses. However, by establishing clear guidelines from the outset, I can ensure that my team is working efficiently, collaboratively, and towards a common goal
I actually use Network of teams quite often, by using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY (LSP) methodology. Using LSP makes the result more tangible. I always get positive feedback when I combine this play with LSP.
I recently joined a team focused on digital transformation that is geographically distributed and supporting multiple objectives. We could benefit from the Working Agreements Team Shaping Play because we've had several new team members rotate onto the team within the past year, including the team lead. After speaking with each team member individually, it's clear that there are gaps in communication and people's expectations for the way they work on the team. Some team members are in different time zones, some work with international partners, and others are only supporting part-time alongside other projects. Outlining working agreements will clarify everyone's preferred ways of working and communicating that are causing the team to pause and stumble right now.
In our Platform Engineering team, we have 3 sub-teams. I'm part of the Internal Developer Platform (sub-team) which focuses on Developer Experience, internal ITSM, Quality Assurance, and Security.
We recently reshaped the teams due to our manager wearing too many hats. With this team composition and renewed purposes, I think we could really benefit from running the Plays for Team Composition and Working Agreements.
Not only to (better) understand each others' roles, but also to be clear on what we deliver without the Platform Engineering team to each other, and how we work together. I have noticed us getting this more blurry and distant over time. So, after the weekend I might just suggest we start doing some of these Plays.
The Network of Teams would be a great one, while it is not the starting place, it would certainly help address some of the gaps in sprint planning and begin having the conversations around including needed team earlier in the process like Backlog Grooming, or at the least tryin to get a point of contact from a team member where dependencies are present into the sprint planning. In most cases, just starting to have the discussions begins breaking down the barriers. Process improvement and experimentation can begin once we have one in the books!
Hello Everyone... To finding and separating roles and responsibilities is a bit hard. This allows the roles and responsibility to be isolated from the skills held by a particular individual and will allow for the ability of teams to scale and grow.
For our team's benefit, a team poster would be fantastic. As we frequently collaborate with several cross teams. We will actually understand who is in charge of what and who to contact. And any new team member might have a clear idea of the other members involved.
Atlassian Team members are employees working across the company in a wide variety of roles.

Love seeing all the comments here! It's really interesting to get some context behind running these plays--some teams want to connect their distributed teams, some are moving from Server to Cloud, and others just want to improve their communication. For all of you who have commented, if/when you run these plays, I would love to hear what your experience is like and how they have helped your team!
I really like all the mentioned plays of shaping effective teams!
We are 5 employees at my own company Deltaminds Consulting GmbH. I think I already know the others, but I am not sure if they know each other quite well. So we will start with the Team Poster :-)
I believe that our team would greatly benefit from defining clear Roles and Responsibilities, especially since we are a new team. This would help us to avoid confusion and ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them. Additionally, I think the Team Poster Play is a great idea as it encourages collaboration and sharing of ideas.
As a Scrum Master and facilitator of my work team, I find that it is often difficult to advance certain issues of our project plan, due to the confusion and overlap in terms of the responsibilities of each of the members of my team, so I'm sure the "Roles and responsibilities play" would be a great asset to add to our group skills optimization sessions.
Roles and Responsibilities Play would be very useful to help team members have a shared understanding of expectations and how one would contribute to others and the team. It can help take away misunderstandings, things falling through the cracks, people stepping on each other etc. all of which would affect a team's health. Happier teams create greater solutions!
This is best way! You often find teammate who is not clear on his role that what he's exactly need to do... it would probably make the understanding much clearer. Thanks!
Our Team carries so much history of previous roles & projects that in order to allow the company to progress and complete a project we can we too helpful. Whilst helping others is important, the interruptions and slopey shoulders of others who should pick up the baton is being enciuraged by our own indiscipline, and causes juggling of tasks and responsibilities that are no longer our job descriptions. Over time this causes the team to become dysfunctional, with reverting back to previous knowledge & riles all too often preventing progress on current aims.
I work with different scrum, professional services and marketing teams and I think they would benefit greatly from doing these practices to communicate better, focus on current projects and new projects. Clarifying the role of each one and the objectives I consider very important.
I think Roles and Responsibilities is one of the Team Shaping Plays my team could benefit from. I think really outlining everyone’s roles and what the responsibilities of those roles entail would really help streamline the process of getting work done. Otherwise there would be many misconceptions on who is doing what and what people are actually supposed to be doing in their current role.
I am part of a marketing and communication team, consisting of three people and a team leader. The problem in our team is that we are all involved in many projects, and in each of these projects, the person involved takes care of everything. This overshadows the more vertical skills of each person, which then struggle to emerge and find time to express themselves. I think better clarifying roles and responsibilities could be of great help. I would also like to propose the team poster and the working agreement.
I'm about to start with a new team so I'd want to run all of them, in order, so we can start things off in a good way. I've been a project manager for some years but using more of a 'waterfall' methodology, so I'm using these courses to underpin my transition to agile working.
Often throughout the project lifecycle our team loses track and understanding of everyone's roles and responsibilities. This ultimately affects the speed and quality of our deliverables however I think implementing the Roles and Responsibilities play at the start of the project and ensuring it's revisited every 3 months (or when the roles are changed) would solve our issues currently faced.
