How to retrieve custom Event Types when importing Calendar from ics file

Having carefully created several new Event Types in my Team Confluence Calendar and subsequently added various events using those custom event types for the whole year (a very lengthy process), upon exporting to iCalendar and subequently adding a new calendar by importing that ics file, all the year's worth of events are simply labelled as "Event" - absolutely useless.

I note that upon deleting the calendar, an email is sent to all subscribers - great - but if you then take the advice under the deletion process to "If you need to restore the calendar at any time, simply choose the "Import Calendar" option when adding a new calendar." - then again, you simply get "Events" for everything, not the carefully added new Event Types.

Unless I am doing something wrong, or need to do something extra, this is an appalling situation.

Can somebody please advise?

An alternative would be able to add in some configuration that allows us to add to the standard event types
