This is going to be my first-time organizing the Atlassian Summit and needless to say I'm beyond excited!

I've asked my team members innumerable questions, but then I thought I should ask the community who live and breathe this as much as we do.

How are you preparing for the Summit'20? Share your stories, so that we all can collectively learn and make this a roaring success! :)

P.S: All pointers, tips, and learnings are welcome!

I have organised attendance at 2 Summits and an Open as a Marketplace Vendor with a booth. I have time to offer advice for Summit 2020 as the planning steps have been moved to our new Marketing Specialists ... oh hi there Poorvi!

Hi @Poorvi Jhawar

I'm just a customer/attendee at the Summit.  2019 was my first Summit experience and it was amazing.

For the past six months my prep/strategy has been doing this at my manager's desk

Now the one thing I did to help my case was I was writing a daily blog post on our internal communication platform while I was at the Summit so my manager already knows the value that sending me again will provide to our company.  I have been told at this point there is a 99% chance I'm going again which is awesome!

So what do I do next?  Well I already know from last time that I want to spend less time at sessions and more time in the Expo hall.  Last year I didn't give myself enough time there.

Also, this year I will be attending as a Community Leader, where as last year I didn't really know what the Community was, so I imagine that I will plan on doing a bit more networking than I did last year.

Other than that, nothing else right now.  Ohh I will also mention that I'd recommend that you download and start using the Summit mobile app as soon as it is available there is a lot of great communication and networking opportunities on the mobile app even before the Summit starts.

Thank you for all the suggestions @Jimmy Seddon.

It certainly helps. I hope you can make it to the Summit and would love to meet you and hear about your journey to becoming a Community Leader :)

Cheers

Interesting. What would you say makes the Expo hall trump the sessions? Would you be able to share tips as to how you'd weigh these out?

Jimmy may have different ideas but for me, I know the sessions can be watched online later whereas the Expo experience can only be experienced live and in person.

@Fernando Bordallo, from my perspective there are still a few sessions I will likely want to see in person, there were a few last year that I found absolutely fantastic (fun fact most of those were by Community Leaders)!

This year I'm going to go in with a plan of what I intend to get out of the Summit, I have one under my belt so I know what to expect now.  This year, I have some goals (we want to start using JSD for sure) and I'm going to build a schedule around accomplishing those goals.
