Hi everyone! As an update (although the original question was a different issue from 2015), we have just started the progressive rollout of Sourcetree v2.3.5.0 which includes a fix for this issue. You should be prompted to upgrade sometime over the next 14 days or, alternatively, you can download the update directly from https://downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/windows/ga/SourceTreeSetup-2.3.5.0.exe

Have a nice day!

Ana

PS: In the future, please submit new questions instead of replying to old ones, to make sure we keep all the info relevant ;)

The default download was 2.3.1 and it didn't work on my Win10 Pro x64 (10.0, build 15063). Sourcetree just wouldn't open. Then found this post and 2.3.5 worked. Thanks.

Brian Hauger October 11, 2017

I mitigated this by installing a version < 2.0 and using that in the meantime but I also faced the same issue.

Ediz Aziz October 13, 2017

Same thing happening to me. I did the same as Brian by installing <2.0 as deleting the %appdata%/local files mentioned in other forums and below, didn't work for me.

Iordanis Ntagioglou October 13, 2017

version 2.3.1.0 wouldn't start, so I installed version 1.9.10.0 without uninstalling 2.3.1.0 . Now 2.3.1.0 starts normally.

andangrd October 18, 2017

Installing version 1.9.x.x without uninstalling 2.3.1.0 is worked for me. Thanks for the solution. (y)

Hi Niels,

Without see the logs is hard to know what is causing it.

On sourcetree.log doesn't show anything? Have a look on this link to find the SourceTree logs.

I've found this answer with a similar behaviour.

Also, it may be related with permissions. Did you have a look into that?

Hope it helps.

The referenced answer (https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/155834) had a step that worked for me as well.  I deleted my local data working folder (C:\Users\myusernamehere\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree.exe_Url_xxxxxxxxx) and everything started up without issue and all my settings were still intact.
