repo clone with SSH on windows fails

Question

I tried to clone this repo: git@github.com:mattraffel/rust-libindy-wrapper.git When I click on clone, I get the popup (twice actually) "Authentication via SSH keys failed.....blah blah". I use putty, import the key. Click yes and retry and back to the same popup. I am using windows. using bash shell on windows, I have this setup as well: mattr@TopWoo MINGW32 /c/users/mattr/.ssh $ ls -l total 17 -rw-r--r-- 1 mattr 197609 114 Sep 19 13:16 config -rw-r--r-- 1 mattr 197609 2727 Sep 19 12:46 git_hub_putty.ppk -rw-r--r-- 1 mattr 197609 837 Sep 19 12:48 git_hub_putty_public.ppk -rw-r--r-- 1 mattr 197609 3326 Sep 19 12:39 id_rsa -rw-r--r-- 1 mattr 197609 749 Sep 19 12:39 id_rsa.pub

Turns out my problem was created by me.....

I forgot to upload the public key to github.  I do not know if github returned more data that could be helpful as it was rather difficult to assess the problem. It would be nice to have a better message, if its possible.

Getting rid of the duplicate error messages, however, should be a priority. That is just an frustrating user experience.
