Where is the system git.exe

Don Clark July 31, 2018

The SourceTree documentation says

Using System Git

Windows

Just select "Use System Git" to select the Git version which is installed on your system.

However, after clicking the System Git button a file picker window pops up and wants me to navigate to the location of git.exe.  Where is that?

In order to use System Git you have to first download and install it. You can download it from https://git-scm.com/

Supposedly our IT dep't installed that two weeks ago.  Apparently not, since the SourceTree app didn't find it and neither can I  ;-(

Sourcetree looks for the System Git in the Path variable, normally it is installed under C:\Program Files\Git if you use the default settings (on 64-bit Windows).
