I have a MacBook running OS X Lion. This is the highest version of the client I can run. Someone stole my computer at the start of the semester and, out of necessity, I've reverted to using my early 2008 MacBook.
When I attempt to connect to an account, I get this error
Login failed for your GitHub account.
Login error
The remote service said: 'Error Domain=SDNetDomain Code=3 "Connection returned NULL data" UserInfo=0x7fc99a879440 {NSLocalizedDescription=Connection returned NULL data, NSUnderlyingError=0x7fc99ac74540 "An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made."}'
I've checked my login info, it seems it never connects to the Github server to login because of some SSL issue. Any ideas to bypass this? I really need a working client for a project I'm working on in class.
Sorry about your computer.
It is very likely you are running an old version of Git. GitHub recently removed TLS 1.0 and 1.2 from their supported protocols, it looks like you are hitting that.
Try updating to the latest Git.
