Problem registering Sourcetree on macOS

Edited

I have downloaded Sourcetree v3.1.2 on a Mac running macOS Mojave 10.14.

When I run the app for the firs time, I am asked to complete a one-time registration using a Bitbucket account. If I select Bitbucket Cloud I am taken to a page asking to confirm access to my account. I'm using Chrome. See screenshot.

When I select 'Grant access' a pop-up for SmartGit appears. See screenshot.

The registration never gets beyond this point. I can select to open SmartGit, which does open, but this has no effect on the registration.

I removed the SmartGit app and the pop-up defaulted to Sourcetree.
