Permission Denied error

George Whittaker December 18, 2017

Moving off a feature branch and then back onto it is giving me a permission denied error:

error: cannot stat 'newFileDirectory': Permission denied

This error is repeated on any new file I added to the project whilst I was working on that branch.

I am unable to edit the permissions on this file and when I try to open in explorer I get an 'Access is Denied' error.

If i delete and clone the repo I get the same issue again.

Any help appreciated!

Hi George, are you using Windows? Close any programs you might have open (such as Sourcetree, Visual Studio, explorer, editor, command prompt...), reopen Sourcetree and try again. If it doesn't work, reboot the machine.

If after trying this you're still getting the same error, let us know the following:

- Are you using Windows or Mac?

- Are you getting the same error when using the command line?

- Which Sourcetree version do you have?

Best regards,

Ana

I have tried all the above and still doesn't fix it.

-I am on windows 10.

-The error is happening on the command line as well as if i just try to open the problematic files in file explorer.

- I have tried with various versions of sourcetree including the latest and I think version 1.1

Thanks

George
