.Net 4.8.1 is required for latest SourceTree, which is only installable on Windows Server 2022

Rick Laird June 7, 2023

I am trying to install the latest version of SourceTree.

The installation requires .Net 4.8.1.

The system requirement for .Net 4.8.1 on a server is Windows Server 2022.

What version of SourceTree will work with the previous version of Windows Server?

Thank you for your help.

Hi @Rick Laird

We have upgraded the .NET Framework version to 4.8 to ensure security and compatibility.

However if any user is using older version of Windows Server, they can update the .NET Framework on their machine. Following web page can help them update the .NET Framework on their machine: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/get-started/system-requirements

The decision to upgrade to .Net Framework 4.8 in version 3.4.8 for windows means going forward SoruceTree is no longer supported on any Windows Server version prior to Windows Server 2022.
