M1 Mac crash with SourceTree 4.1.6

Alec Miller April 24, 2022

I can't even get the app to open after the lastest update.  I'm on macOS 12.3.1, and the prior version worked fine.  Here the top part of the bug report.  Seems this app is universal.  But other users are reporting the same crash in the Intel x64 build.

Make sure that you're not using AVX, or Rosetta 2 will crash there.  But this seems to be file related on both platforms.  Seems like this might be due to more security in macOS 12.3.1, and python2 is also removed as of macOS 12.3.

The only way I was able to get SourceTree to launch was to move ~/Library/Application Support/SourceTree folder to the trash.  This wiped out my entire listing of repos.  What files do I need to restore from that to get that back?

Since I can run the app, I won't be able to auto update when this is fixed.  Even going back to the older version of the app before the update didn't fix the crash.  So see my other post for wiping the prefs data.

Now I can't launch 4.1.8_244 on macOS 12.4 on M1.   The old version that was working failed, so I installed latest.  Didn't yet wipe the Library folders.

Simplest fix for me is to delete the following file.  This preserves all the repos that I had, so I don't have to add them.  That's what happens if the entire SourceTree folder is trashed above.

This inability to relaunch seems to happen to SourceTree every time my M1 has a kernel panic.   This results in SourceTree crashing on launch with a stack with FSEventStreamCreate detailed above.

This is the file to trash:
~/Library/Application Support/SourceTree/openWindowList

@Alec MillerI have the same crash but the file you mention doesn't exist in that folder.

Update... I held option while clicking on the App in the dock launched SourceTree successfully. Maybe it's a fluke.
