Files from sourcetree folder wont run in browser but do from another folder

Edited

So for some time I have been working on a project lets call this folder xyz123, using wampserver64, in the firefox address bar I type http://localhost/xyz123 and the website works and behaves normally.

Then the boss introduced sourcetree and the files from source tree are downloaded to sourcetree/portal/xyz123 when I type http://localhost/sourcetree/portal/xyz123 into the browser it wants to download the file, rather than execute index.php. Interestingly the index.php gets renamed to rnsUsFVc.php

All folders described above sit under C:\Wamp64\www\

Surely I can work with the sourcetree folder rather than copying files backwards and forwards
