Can you add the ability to close the last tab?

The new interface is nice enough, but I have a workflow where I leave all projects I've worked with open until I'm done with it for the day and everything has been committed. This allows me to know that some things still need to be committed to origin or not. I keep SourceTree open all the time when I am working.

But the new UI doesn't allow the last remaining tab to be closed. I'd like to be able to do that and have the display revert to the New Tab display when I have no project being actively worked on.
