Can sourcetree be used without atlassian account, e.g. for github?

When you install sourcetree on mac, you have to enter an atlassian account. I dont have/need/want an atlassian account (currently at least).  I only work on open source github projects.  Am I correct in assuming therefore, that souretree is only for bitbucket?  If not, how do I install it without an atlassian account?  Or does everyone just create a dummy one?

TL; DR; Ana should have just responded with no...it cannot be used without an atlassian account...

Hi John! Sourcetree is not only for Bitbucket, you can use it with Github or any other service if you prefer. However, as part of the installation process you're required to register Sourcetree with your Atlassian account. This is only asked at the beginning and you don't need to use it anymore, so you could create a dummy one and then connect Sourcetree to your Bitbucket account following the steps at Connect your Bitbucket or Github account

Yeah - the issue we are facing in my company is, we have some development teams in China, and they are unable to go beyond the screen where it asks for the Atlassian credentials. After double checking the password and clicking "Log in", we are just getting a dumb no-extra-information provided error (see attached pic)L_71D.tmp.PNG

I am pretty sure it is something to do with perhaps some china related access, however, without further debugging information, we are unable to proceed. Is there any way to get this app to install successfully so we can start accessing our code in Bitbucket.

Please let me know.

Do I need to open a separate support ticket for this?
