Hello! This issue has been fixed for the next release, sorry about that! I'm expecting to have it ready for beta this week, and it should be released sometime soon.

I just started with a new project today on Sourcetree and am experiencing the program crashing each time I commit. I am not sure if the update you were/are intending to push out has been done yet, was hoping you could give a little update? Thank you very much in advance!

You might be able to work around the issue by setting a username and email address in the Options menu (be sure to check the "Allow Sourcetree to modify your global Git and Mercurial config files" setting too).
