Misleading information regarding child pages with restrictions

Deleted user November 25, 2015

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Move and Reorder Pages

The page – along with any attachments, comments, and child pages – is moved to your chosen location.

Unfortunately, if the user moving the page does not have view access on any of its children due to page restrictions, those children seem to disappear into the ether. Is this expected behaviour? The documentation would suggest not.

This is a long time to wait for an answer, but yes, that is what it does. If there are restrictions on a page, everything else will move but the restricted page (and any of its children) will either just sit there or will become a child of the space's root page. The restricted pages won't disappear – they'll be visible by anyone who has permission to see them, but will sit outside the page hierarchy. You can find them by using the Pages menu.
