How to re-configure whatcher functionality so that user doesn't automatically be added after each modification on issue type

Hallo all,

I tried to find answer, but I couldn't find the right documentation to my question.

Use Case:

• user adds comment,
• user edit issue type (doesn't matter how)
• result: he is getting automatically added as an whatcher
• after that obviously he is getting emails to each enchancement on this issue type, which we want to avoid.

And the question is:  How to re-configure whatcher functionality so that user doesn't automatically be added after each modification on issue type? User should be able to decide itself, whether he wants to be informed about each enchancement and can add himself as an whatcher.

Get your users to turn off "autowatch" in their profiles, and consider turning it off in the global default as well.
