any help is appreciated ?
You might see this error if you only installed Jira Core or Jira Core/Jira Service Desk. However Portfolio is intended to work in conjunction with the Jira Software application.
If you already have a Jira 7 version installed, you can easily add this to your installation just by opening your Jira site and navigating to Cog Icon -> Applications -> Versions & Licenses.
On this page, it will tell you if you have Jira Software installed already. If Jira Software is not yet installed, then there should be a 'trial Jira Software' button on the right side you can click to install this first.
There is also a guide on how to do this. Please see How to install JIRA Software / JIRA Service Desk into an existing JIRA instance
