Happy Monday Morning (or afternoon, and even evening wherever you may be in this wonderful orb orbiting the Sun)! And Happy Diwali to all of those that are celebrating!
One of the lessons of Diwali that I can always relate to is that it only takes one candle to light hundreds of others. Let's emulate principle in the community this week (as we always do). I'm actually a bit surprised that this is attributed to Tolstoy:
But this is not MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY, it's Miscellaneous Monday!
I was thinking of a post during my commute today, and it hit me like the light of a thousand candles 🕯🕯🕯🕯 - we need a post about commuting 🚅🚌🚗🚲🚶♀️🚶♂️. And since you know I love data, and especially data that can be charted and graphed, here is today's miscellaneously managed mischief!
Please provide your responses in the form of a list, with each response corresponding to one of the headings below:

This should be a free form answer. Do you listen to podcast? Catch up on email? Read a book? Curse under your breath at the traffic? Pretend you are driving a car in Mario Kart? Any combination of the above or other activities?
Gifs not required, but encouraged!
Have a great hour, day and week ahead!
Either way sounds like a great start to the day!
I mostly do WFH most of the time. But I go once a week and I use cab. In the cab, i finish off my tasks and I listen to audio books, recently "the-stories-of-mahabharata" have been my favourite. Its available on amazon prime.
Unless of course the cab driver is lonely and wants to strike up a conversation...
Some of the strangest conversations I have ever had were with NYC Taxi and Uber drivers. Sometimes the stories they tell me make me want to decontaminate myself when I get up from the seat.
Yes. Thats true.
That 20 minutes sets the tone for the day, it's not SLOW its METHODICAL!
Commuting Style
WFH - that is me below in the gif...always asking my cat to get down off my desk!
2. Commute Time
WFH (no commute time other than taking a shower, getting coffee and walking down the hallway to my office)
3. Commute Productivity
I don't commute, but I do listen to music when I drive other places.
Glad that you still take your personal hygiene seriously without the peer pressure of being in an office with other humans. Although, cats do have a sixth sense themselves...

I don't commute now but when I do drive to the office to pick up stuff I just listen to music and potentially sing as loud as possible if the songs are good.
That's me while driving :)
With that movement the car must be only making left hand turns all day long. I generally sing at the top of my lungs while white knuckling the steering wheel at 2 and 10.

Wow. My kids are older now, and my wife mostly handled the morning prep for school duties all of the years of their youth, but those 2 hours in the morning is like a full day of work before even getting to work.
1. Commuting Style
2. Commute Time
3. Commute Productivity
1. WFH
2. 30-60 minutes (because I am not a morning person it takes me that long to become "civilized")
3. Answering posts on the Atlassian Community (because that is what I do before I start my "real" job).
Before I worked from home I used to like to walk to the bus stop (20 mins) and ride the bus (40 mins) instead of driving, so I could read books during my commute.
This is an amazing post @Andy Gladstone!
I'm sorry I'm late here. Let's see what I can add:
Commuting Style:
WFH / Car on the odd days I need to go into the office.
Commute Time:
None when working from home/ 30 mins. when I head to the office
Commute Productivity:
Ok this is going to be an interesting one.
While I'm Working form Home - I simply dive into things and I walk away when I'm done for the day.
When I'm driving I enjoy listening to talk radio in the morning (something with current local news), on the way home I like listening to classic rock music to unwind from the day.
On the SUPER rare occasion I'm going to Toronto on the train, I will start checking email and slack on my way there in the morning, and I play mobile games on my phone on the way home to unwind.
@Jimmy Seddon you can never be late to the party. It only starts once you arrive! Thanks for adding your comment. Summary post coming soon.
Happy Deewali @Andy Gladstone and Thanks for bring Deewali festival to this motivational conversation.
I prefer WFH, so I do not get the other 2 questions.

When I drive into work, it's very short, but I am able catch-up on some of my podcasts, or even think through an issue or project that I'm working on.
1. Commuting Style
Mass Transit
2. Commute Time
0-30 minutes (good half an hour door-to-door if everything runs smoothly)
3. Commute Productivity
On my way to the co-working space in the morning, I listen to a science news podcast on Spotify. It's always varied and interesting with short 4-6 minute episodes. On the way home, I usually listen to music or other podcasts while browsing various news apps.
As my wife says, I enjoy commuting, XD so here it goes:
