Hi! Can someone suggest what to do first? Hopefully, this is the beginning of a wonderful business relationship!

Dear Jovon,

happy to have you here. Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Thanks for your very generic but fundamental question. From my project experience in introducing Jira in very different organizations it is crucial to build an enthusiastic team first. To introduce a tool for collaboration you should leverage a collaborative approach from the beginning.

Another advice: don’t start with customizing right away. Start with exploring, e.g. by creating projects of different types. Jira is so flexibel that you are always able to adapt to upcoming requirements.

Third point: document what you are doing and what is the reasoning behind it right from the start. It might feel somewhat slow at first but by expressing your or your project team’s thoughts you create a valuable resource for long term success.

Last but not least, consider how you collaborate in your organization. What is a project to you? How does this map to a project in Jira.

All the best!

Kind regards,

Tobias
