configuring custom email for JSM with Microsoft 365

I've recently tried to configure a custom email address with MS 365. I had to open a ticket with atlassian to make it through.

My problems mostly came from misleading dialoges and too short documentation. So for the time until Atlassian adds this to their documentation, here is what I've learned.

  1. The MS365 admin should register JSM Cloud as an enterprise app.
  2. If the MS365 admin haas not registered JSM as an enterprise app, and has restricted enterprise apps, the user who wants to configure a custom email, will receive an Atlassian-branded message telling him that he needs admin approval. This means that admin approval from an MS365 admin is required.
The helpdesk told me that the content of the message is generated by MSFT so the can't do anything about it.
