Jira Service Management Portal - Login Passthrough from our Saas Application

Summary

We use the JSM portal as a knowledgebase to allow customers (external to our organization) to access our knowledge base.

One of the reasons we stick with the JSM portal is the security feature that allows our KB to only be accessed by users who are authenticated (ie they have a JSM login). We have a SaaS platform and would like to set up some type of login pass through so that users who are authenticated (logged in) don't have to re-login with a separate password. It is becoming painful for our users to have to remember that the JSM portal is different than our application login and is causing confusion for many of them.

Does anyone know of a solution that we can use to authenticate the users with out them having to login?

If not, does anyone have any other recommendations of KB platforms we might want to consider that would allow for this functionality?

Hi @Jeffrey Bistrong ,

That sounds like you are looking for a SSO solution on the Cloud platform.

You'll have to look in to Atlassian Access for that:

https://www.atlassian.com/software/access

It is the product that allows you to connect to an identity provider and loop thru your authentication to your Atlassian products.

Whether this will work for you might depend on how your own platform is set up but for general SSO this is your best bet imho

@Jeffrey Bistrong if you are using Jira Service Management in the cloud, this is the correct answer. You need to use Atlassian Access in order to allow SSO.

The good news is, you only have to pay for access for your employees. Customer accounts are not charged and do not reflect on the bill.

Thanks @Dirk Ronsmans @Alex Janes for providing this.  I was looking through this, and I don't see any documentation related to setting this up via the JSM portal. Is there specific documentation you can link me to that mentions how this integrates with the JSM portal
