This past Wednesday night the NYC ACE chapter held an in-person meetup at the Atlassian offices in NYC to recap the key announcements from Team '23, learn how Atlas can lift up the OKRs for an organization and experience the findings from the Atlassian State of Teams report first hand.
The NYC Community spirit was present with close to 50 community members in attendance, great food and beer and swag for all. Over a dozen Atlassian Team members also stuck around after work to join the meet-up, including Confluence, Trello and BitBucket Product Team members. It's always great for us to meet the wizards behind the magic!
@Viktoriya Borisova from the Community Team was onsite as well to lend a hand on all things logistics to ensure an enjoyable and successful event for all. She even steamed the banner to make sure everything was perfect! Thank you V!
Note to organizers, we should take the group picture in the middle of the night, not at the end after many participants have left!
The night was kicked off by our MC, @Madhusudhan Matrubai one of the NYC ACE Leaders, thanking the sponsors Atlassian and ISOS Technology for their support and helping make the event a success. (ISOS is hosting a Team '23 Recap on May 10 for anyone that missed ours!)
From there we launched right into a power packed night of content and engagement!
@Kapil Samadhiya and I presented a recapped the key announcements from Team '23 starting with the theme of Impossible Alone, Possible Together. We spoke about the development and iterations of tools that support this goal and reviewed key announcements including Atlassian Automation (AI), Atlassian Analytics and Data Lake, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence Whiteboards, Beacon and a plethora of other product updates and announcements.
Next up was @Nicole Tang presenting her talk from Team '23 - Let's GSD with OKRs! Nicole talked and walked us through why developing Objectives and Key Results (the WHAT and HOW) for organizations is critical to achieving great results. She demonstrated how Atlas is a platform built for tracking and measuring these OKRs across teams and organizations. Bonus - her talk from Team '23 is available on demand for anyone that missed our recap or wants to review it again!
Coach Ted Lasso @Mark Cruth brought us home with an interactive workshop on the findings from the Atlassian State of Teams report. What makes a legendary team, and more importantly, how do you form one? Mark walked us through a few exercises and introduced some key plays from the Team Playbook (not Nate's False 9) that can help organizations assess the state of their teams and help them become legendary.
The night wrapped up with a few raffles, a plug for the revitalized Northern New Jersey ACE Chapter and a ton of socializing and networking.
Legendary Team in formation
