Convert multiversion to multiselect fields

Dermot Donovan June 18, 2014

Is it possible to convert custom fields of multiversion type to to being multiselect types in JIRA?

From the JIRA documentation it is possible to change from single to multiple types as per: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Changing+Custom+Field+Typesbut we need to change from multiversion to multiselect in order to correctly surface the JIRA field values in Zephyr.

No, the types are not directly convertible. The version fields hold version objects and the select lists hold options, so a simple swap of field type (with a reindexing afterwards) isn't going to be enough.

You'll need to script something to copy the version names out to options, populate the option list and then copy the actual data over into the new field.

Thanks for the reply Nic, we're looking into adding new fields which we will populate in Zephyr instead which will autopopulate our existing JIRA fields.
