Based on the Atlassian advice of “make it (gadgets) about teams, projects, and tasks, not about tools,” we have built Profields, 'til this 7.2.0 version, as a perfect complement for Jira as a resource to help people who are in the need of tracking project specific-information. This information can be displayed as gadgets containing specific reports from the information of multiple projects, previously stored in Jira and Profields. It will available with just a quick look at your Jira dashboard.
While Atlassian has a set of gadgets that will help you organize and track your tasks, it hardly has any gadgets that will help you organize and track projects. That's why Profields incorporates four gadgets based on the data saved in the project-specific properties (fields) created with Profields, so Jira users can quickly and effortlessly track the progress of projects with relevant information that your team and your stakeholders need.
I'm gonna take you through these Profields gadgets:
1. The Project Fields Summary gadget
This is an essential gadget of Profields; it makes available direct access to projects that you want (i.e: those where you are the Project Lead) and shows only those attributes that you need with just a quick look in your Jira dashboard. That's what I call real-time reporting for projects.
2. The two-dimensional project statistics report gadget
This one is very similar to Jira's two-dimensional gadget. It offers statistics about your projects in a table format by crossing data from all the project information stored in Profields for Jira.
3. The Project timesheet report gadget
This is one of the most complex given the information it provides. It shows an overall look at the time spent within any given project. It's exclusive to the users of Jira's Time Tracking option.
On this example we show how we manage our service specialized in Atlassian, we have called "Support Packs" (see what's a Support Pack service), it is basically a comparison of the estimated time (Original Estimate), time incurred (Σ Time Spent), and remaining time (Remaining Estimate) of the projects you need to track.
4. The One Field Statistic Chart gadget
This gadget can be illustrated through two different charts: a pie chart, or a bar chart, and it's intended to show the information of the total of your projects based on only one field. Here's an example with the pie chart:
Every team member, stakeholders, project leads, PMO managers, etc... who needs to track the progress of their projects in Jira needs to start using these Profields reports gadgets in your Jira dashboards.
If you are in Jira Data Center or Jira Server, and you are looking to obtain even more advanced and detailed reports, there's an extra option that might be interesting for you. Besides, if you are in Jira Cloud, maybe you would like to have all we have shown above in your instance. If that’s the case, we would like to inform you that we are currently working on bringing all these features offered by Profields nowadays for Data Center and Server, to the Cloud version. By the moment, there's another solution, even better than we just have shown, and it's also available for Cloud: an integration with eazyBI.
