Missing features for Excel-like Issue Editor for Jira 1.12

I am testing the Excel-like Issue Editor for Jira 1.12 and it is useful for bulk editing of issues based on a filter in place of using Jira's built in Bulk Edit capability.

In addition to editing, it would be useful to be able to export the data to Excel.

It would also be useful to be able to add additional fields and re-order them without having to go back to the original Jira filter.

Please respond if you have similar needs and if there are any other Apps in the marketplace that already have this kind of functionality.

Hello, @Keith Lanier. I'm Gabriel from the Ricksoft Support Team.

Thank you for bringing these questions to our attention. At the time, the Excel-like Issue Editor for Jira does not have the option to add and re-order fields and to export the data in Excel format.

We already have reported this behavior to our development team in order to implement it in a code level:

EIESPT-16
EIESPT-17

  • We linked this issue to the suggestions reported for the development team's reference and priority alignment.
  • At the moment, we can't set an ETA for the implementations to be released, since it will depend on the team's backlog and the suggestions' complexity. That's why we suggest you add yourself as a watcher on both pages and vote for these features, to receive all future updates from our development team.

If Public Tracker site pages do not render properly please try incognito mode or switch the browser to display. Also, it will be required a separate sign up for voting in Public Tracker. Simply click the 'Login' option placed in the left navigation column and go to the 'Sign Up' link, Next, click 'See the old view' to display the vote option.

We understand that not having a workaround for these behaviors is not optimal but let's give our developers some time to further investigate and implement this suggestion.

If you need assistance with the Excel-like Jira Issue Editor or have any other questions regarding our products, please contact us anytime at http://ricksoft-support.atlassian.net/. I will be happy to help.

We wish you a great day!

@Gabriel Quadros - thank you for the response.

I have another question related to customization of Jira that our company is done using nfeed. For fields that we have added rules in Jira, we want to not allow users to edit them in Excel-like editor. Is there a way to disable the ability to edit specific fields using a configuration for the app?

@Bob Reed - is this you from Synopsys?

Hello @Keith Lanier,

Thank you for reaching out to us again. Excel-like Issue Editor uses the Field Permissions from your Jira Instance. For example, if your Jira has a read-only _Assignee_ field, this field will be read-only on Excel-like Issue Editor as well. Have you tried disabling the ability to edit these specific fields directly on your Jira Instance? If not, please have a test and let us know if Excel-like Issue Editor replicated the same configurations on it.

We are looking forward to hearing from you. If you need assistance with the Excel-like Jira Issue Editor or have any other questions regarding our products, please contact us anytime at ricksoft-support.atlassian.net. I will be happy to help.

We wish you a great day!

Kind Regards,

Gabriel Quadros
