Ive been doing some searching but seem to only find posts relating to server version of Jira service desk.  Im wondering how users in Cloud version are able to retrieve a users manager, director etc from AD or Azure AD?

In the change management process for our standard types, we need managers approval for the request and im not sure the best way to get this information.  We are looking at premium version to get Insight but i want to confirm if we in fact we can actually pull this information from AD into insight or is all manual import of lists?

For emergency changes we require director and VP approval so same thing, we need to pull this information from AD or Azure AD to ensure we have the right approvers.

Any insights on the best practices to doing this the right way so we only manage users attributes in one location and then it syncs to JSM would be great.

This is for an internal help desk system only.

Hi @Julian Governale ,

The insight functionality isn't as extensive in cloud as it is in server. Insight has a lot more different import types in server / dc than in cloud, including the LDAP imports.

They aren't available yet for cloud.

You can vote for the feature request here

In the meantime, you could try export / importing from CSV, or use the app Azure AD Attributes for Jira from Devinity, that should be able to cover your use case if the userbase is too large / complex / fast changing to keep it in sync manually.

Hope this helps!

This is great Tessa!  Thanks for passing this along.  We will look at exploring Azure AD addon as on a quick review, it does do what we are looking for.

I voted for the LDAP integration too so hopefully that is an option in the future.

Hi,

If you would like to automate the data flow for JSM Cloud Premium and Enterprise, you can use Azure AD Importer for JSM Assets marketplace application.

Here is a short video of the functionality.

Cheers
