Answer the Challenge to support a great cause!

Blog post - challenge FIRST-360p-201215.gif

The upcoming holiday season will feel quite different for many people this year, which is why it's important that we give back. Give back to communities and groups who need extra support and love. Give back to people in need and to organizations that care for others.

Recently, I was chatting with Rodney Nissen (a.k.a, thejiraguy.com) about the Holidays, this challenging year, and, of course, Jira. An idea was born. An idea that evolved from a mere competition for a prize into a much bigger project - a charitable contest that will give back to the community.

Our aim is to support FIRST, a fantastic robotics charity that helps today's kids grow into strong science and technology leaders of tomorrow. FIRST was founded some 30 years ago by Dean Kamen, a world-renowned inventor and technology evangelist. The charity has expanded its footprint since inception, touching the lives of more than 575,000 global students with local community programs, mentorships, and competitions in 2019 alone. Rodney's own experience with FIRST is a must-read.

FIRST undoubtedly aligns with Appfire's - the team we are now part of - core values. It also aligns with the Atlassian community's values, and promotes the field of technology to girls and boys around the world.

We received overwhelming interest from our partners in the Atlassian community when we first pitched the idea of a charitable contest. We got to work and are now excited to present you with Stump The Expert Challenge!

Earn money for a charity. Win Oculus Quest 2.

We invite you to participate by solving Challenges and earning money for a good cause. You can earn up to $250 for FIRST per Challenge and we will donate the money to the charity on your behalf. But that’s not all! We'd like to give you a chance to join in on the fun and participate in our raffle for an Oculus Quest 2. Your name will be entered into the drawing with every solution submission. It’s a win-win for everyone!

This year is unlike any other, and there are so many people and charities in need of assistance. We want to encourage you to jump in and help out this holiday season. Whether it's through a donation to a charity of your own choice or through participation in our Stump the Expert Challenge.

We're all in this together.

Use your expertise for a good cause! Answer the Challenge to earn money for FIRST.

I hope you and your family are safe and healthy!
