Can I take Cloud Organization exam if I am not Jira Admin?

Hello there,

I wonder if it would be possible to take the exam if I don't have Admin permissions in my organization.

I may create my own environment? Never did.

Thanks!

I absolutely agree with @Mark Segall I passed this exam 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure that without practical experience would be so difficult to pass this exam. What's more, if you haven't passed any other Atlassian certifications, I don't recommend to start with this one. It's better to start from ACP-620 which is the easiest and knowledge from this certification is also useful to ACP-520.

Why do you want to pass this exam? What is your motivation?

Hey @Kate Pawlak _Appsvio_ I just replied Mark last comment. I think I answared my motivation... Thanks for the tip to start from ACP-620.

Just checking, I should start by this course ($39) course: https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/1537782-managing-jira-projects-cloud?sid=b5524154-8e54-40ee-aaa7-b7f7f19e1eff&sid_i=2

Than take this exam ($249) https://university.atlassian.com/student/page/840992-acp-620-managing-jira-cloud-projects-certification

I don't understand why it says $100 in the "exam detail" of this page: https://www.atlassian.com/university/certification/certifications/exam-acp-620.%C2%A0

It would be like $278 dollars not $100, right? Much more than the Cloud Organization cost right now ($100): https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/1364454?utm_source=social&utm_medium=linkedin&utm_campaign=P:uni-training*O:university*C:paid*W:*H:fy24q1*I:org-admin-cert-launch*

Hi @Muriel S_ Thiago Ledoux Rupp - The big thing about Atlassian certifications is that they are designed to not just test on study material, but also evaluate your experience in the subject matter.  Many of the questions will involve unorthodox scenarios that you would rarely (if ever) experience in the real world just to validate that you have such a deep understanding that you can visualize how/where you'd configure to solve for the question.

You can absolutely set up a free instance to help give you the hands on experience and I won't say that it's impossible to build up enough experience to pass the exam.  However, the free instance will throw you limitations that will hinder your ability to gain that deep level of understanding.

Hey @Mark Segall big thanks!

So may plan was to get to be certified than ask for the jira admin permission in my company (I am currently project admin only).

I guess my plan won't work, since it would work better if I got to be jira admin for a while before getting certified.

Do you have any tips for me in this scenario?

I already have most of the badges from Atlassian free training, but I guess it wasn't enough to prove my organization I should be promoted as Jira Admin... so I wanna keep studying and get prepared for this moment (if it happens one day).

Yes agree with @Kate Pawlak _Appsvio_ that ACP-620 as the first cert to get under your belt.  Not only is it a good stepping stone, but it's also something you can prepare with a free Atlassian instance.  You won't run into any license-constrained features.

Just showing your initiative/motivation to get certified should go a long way with your employer that you're committed and serious about not just doing the job, but elevating yourself.  Good luck on your certification journey!
