We're excited to be kicking off Jobs & Career Month! 🎉
Each week during the month of March, we'll be posting a career-themed discussion topic and would love to hear any thoughts and stories you'd like to share with us. To start us off, we thought we'd begin with a discussion around the common thread that's brought all of us here: the Atlassian Community.
We're curious to know if being a member of the Atlassian Community has impacted your job or career. Maybe it's expanded your network leading to new career opportunities or new friends; maybe browsing community articles has helped you learn a new trick or two in Jira that's been helpful in your job; or perhaps you've stumbled upon a discussion about an innovative new way of working that you've taken to your team and implemented. No matter how big or small the impact, we'd love to hear from you!
We love to hear it, @Benjamin! Reading and learning about others' first-hand product use cases and questions and being able to converse with them can be so much more beneficial than combing through documentation and knowledge-base articles.
Thank you for being here and helping others with your knowledge along the way. 💙
As a Community Leader I was provided the opportunity to join the Jira Work Management EAP a couple of years ago. That helped me to gain valuable insight into the revamped product (and hopefully provide helpful feedback to the team). Eventually, that lead to the Packt Publishing company to offer a book deal to write a book on JWM. In turn, that helped me to pick up some clients when I started my own consulting company.
What an amazing series of events, John! I love hearing stories like this. Thanks for being here and for helping so many of our Community members with their questions!
I have been helped way more than I have helped others. So it’s the least I can do to try to help give back.
Being a Community Leader has introduced me to a world of wonderful fellow enthusiasts who are so kind, positive and constructive ... something which I haven't experienced in quite a while.
Helping people and providing them with useful answers to their questions adds value and the appreciation adds to my self-esteem.
I can only recommend being a part of this community.
Thank you all!
I know what you mean, Dave! We have such a fantastic Community. Thanks for all of the help and answers you provide - we're glad you're here!
Being part of this community has enabled me to change my career path from software development to tools consultancy - specifically the Atlassian tool suite! At that career change has lead me to a company where I feel truly valued in a way that was lacking in my previous employers.
I have learned so much through the Atlassian communities. I've made connections with other people like me who have been so very helpful in my learning journey.
At my current employer I've even had a few teammates mention that they found some answers to their own questions in answers I've posted in the communities.
Being able to help people in these communities while also increasing my own depth of knowledge has been a great experience.
We're so glad you're a part of this community, Trudy! It never ceases to amaze me how many helpful and thoughtful answers to so many questions can be found right here.
I can truly say that becoming active in the Atlassian Community has helped me find a necessary balance between work and life. Atlassian tools and products, although they are utilized in our organization for furthering our corporate goals, are a passion project for me. Throwing myself into the community has provided an outlet (mostly healthy, sometimes addictive) to express myself in ways I don't have chance in my 'day' job. It has introduced me to fellow ambassadors and enthusiasts that are equally if not more expressive in the community. It has helped me hone my listening skills and attentiveness. It has also allowed me the freedom to scratch the itch I have for writing. And the above is only scratching the surface. I could go on...
It's always so great to hear about passion projects + work projects crossing paths.
I hadn't thought about it this way before, but I love the thought of Community being a professional "outlet" that allows us to express ourselves and show up in different ways than we typically do during our day-to-day jobs. Thanks for sharing!
I have learned so many things during my tenure as a member of this community and even more since I have been a Community Leader! I have learned new tricks and tips for using the tools, I have met new people that I can't wait to meet in person at Team '23, I have been inspired by others so many times that I can't count them all, and I have learned new ways of working. And that's not all...I could also go on!
