can a confluence user able to see jira project and issues without jira access in cloud?

Fayaz Abdul December 17, 2019

Hi Team,

On Jira and confluence cloud,
UserA exists in Jira but not in Confluence
UserB exists in confluence but not in Jira
When userB login into Confluence, without jira access he should be able to see all the issues present in a project in jira, and these issues were created by other users including UserA

If you have any macros please let us know.

Thanks,

Fayaz

Hi @Fayaz Abdul

One can't see Jira issues unless they are licenced for Jira Service Desk or Jira Software user. Therefore as a logged in administrator in Jira, go to Administration > Users > select the person who you want to see Jira issues, and switch on Jira Service Desk or Jira Software.

Hi @Fayaz Abdul

Simple answer, if userB logs into Confluence and accesses a page showing Jira Projects it simply won't load. It will error with the following:

View these issues in JIRA.png

This is the correct behaviour.

Just like UserA if they were in a Jira ticket and there was a link to a Confluence space and document, they wouldn't be able to access it.

Again this is the correct behaviour
