you need to look at your workflow to see if it's possible de go back to the previous status

Welcome to the community. Check the workflow associated with the issue type.
Can you transition back to Open, if not the workflow has to be updated.
Depending on the project type Team or Company managed, the project admin or the jira admin needs to make the change if required.
I tried to go back but that doesn't work.
