How do I add a label so that it automatically appears when a new issue is created?

Rachman Walker May 20, 2021

I've been reviewing the online Jira documentation

I have yet to find out how to automatically add a specific label, i.e., "scenario" to a new issue - user story, bug, task, subtask.

I want to see "scenario" as an available label in the new issue

I want the "scenario" label to be automatically populated into each new issue

How can this be done?

Hi @Rachman Walker -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You may do that with an automation rule, such as follows:

  • Trigger: issue created
  • Action: edit issue fields, selecting the Labels field, and then type in your new value.
