Opening 3rd Part Links on JIRA Boards - Open in new tab

When opening 3rd party links to external sites from Jira tickets, the pages open in the same window.   This is supremely aggravating, because if you close the window, instead of hitting back, you have to re-open Jira.  Why not have external links open in a window or tab?
