Jira data centre load capacity

akshay.kg June 29, 2020

In my org we have Jira DC with 3 front end nodes and 5TB common NFS, our user base recently grew to 8000 people with at lease 2000 concurrent users during office hours. Also we have x-ray and portfolio plugin installed. If we keep on going what is the limit that Jira can handle.

What will happen if user upload and download large files ~40MBs from/to Jira. Will t be able to handle?

What is the Maximum number of issues that Jira can handle without any significant issue on performance.

what is the optimal configuration to run Jira.

Sometimes the re-indexing fails  with no apparent reason will be succeeded automatically next time is this cause to be concerned?

During large project imports some of the sub-task will get imported without the parent and this almost always cause indexing issue and we also face some weird issue if we try to change the workflow of these project. will this pile up to cause any huge issue ? or everything is contained to specific projects. ?

Hi @akshay.kg ,

As Jira instance varies from instance to instance with the data, configurations, users, add-ons, network, hardware and several other factors, it is not possible to give a definite answer to what is happening here. I would advise hooking up Jira with to a remote JMX client as per [Live monitoring using the JMX interface] and observe what is happening when different actions happen. This should give you a better understanding of what your instance is capable of and you may then look into how you may improve this.
