Duration/Time Span of Epics ?

Hello, fairly new JIRA user but long time MS Project / Project manager.
My groups projects typically run 12 to 24 months in duration.   Initial thought was to an epic per project.   There are roughly a dozen to 18 Issues per project.
Seems Mgt is preferring to break the Epics down into 2/3 month increments.    Checking on what other folks are seeing as norm for Epic duration for longer duration projects ?

Thanks

Hi @tdorst01

Welcome to the community.

It depends on what your organization definition of an epic is.  To be honest there is no set or recommended length of time for an epic. In jira terms, an epic is a collection of work items (stories, tasks, etc.). So if you have a lot of work items it would take longer.

If 2-3 months works for you, keep it that way.

Regards
