Hi,
We are planning for migration from PostgreSQL 8.4 to Oracle12C for our applications JIRA and Confluence.
Current version of JIRA is 6.3.12 and we are planning to upgrade to latest available version.
Current version of Confluence is 5.6.4 and we are planning to upgrade to latest available version.
Could anyone suggest on how to plan for migrate from PostgreSQL to Oracle12C.
Does any one did this earlier? If so could you please share the steps on how we can start this activity..
Thanks
Also, using XML backup to change the Confluence DB will mess up favorites for users but you don't have another choice
Thank you Nic and Matt for your inputs.
Also like to know, as we are migrating the data from PostgreSQL to Oracle 12C, are there any compatibility issues which I might come across ? Do I need to go from PostgresSQL 8.4 to Oracle 11g first and then to Oracle 12C ? Need your suggestions please..
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira063/supported-platforms-683541780.html shows the requirements for 6.3, e.g. no Oracle 12c. So if you upgrade to JIRA 7.2 say you are going to have to do it as a combination anyway.
XML export from 6.3 and postgres
New 7.2 install with Oracle 12c on a staging instance
XML import into 7.2
The problem is that postgres 8.4 is not supported in JIRA 7.2 either, so this one is going to involve more changes at once than Nic or I would recommend
