Components - good practices.

Are there any good practices or rules that should be followed while using components?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

  • Use clear, short and appropriate names for them
  • Treat them as what they are intended for - grouping issues together as part of the project.
  • Nominate a "lead" or expert in the component, and think about using the automatic assignee function with it.
  • Train your project administrators to think before creating new ones - a long list of components for a project is not a lot of use if your users aren't clear  on which components should be put on an issue

There's not much we can say about "best practice" for components, the best practice is mostly to use them for what suits your reporting and processes.
