Announcing the WSJF Plugin for Jira

I am happy to announce that  COGNITIFF has released the WSJF Plugin for Jira. The WSJF (Weighed Shorted Job First) prioritization method is based on idea of 'cost of delay'. This approach was popularized by Don Reinertsen and widely embraced by the lean community.

The  plugin automates the calculation of the WSJF value and makes it easy to prioritize your backlog by it. A notable feature is that sorting by WSJF will not disable drag-and-drop functionality. Give it a try!

Interesting... I hadn't encountered WSJF by name before. Now I have homework...

There's a supreficially similar work scheduling approach with a similar rationale for "real-time" software systems called "rare-monotonic scheduling." In real-time software, there's a balancing force, that some work becomes worthless or worse if not done "soon enough."
