Hi! My automation rule currently creates 5 stories when an epic is created. I want to create subtasks under each of those stories. How do I link those subtasks under the appropriate story in jira automation?

Rule:

  • when is epic is created:
  • story 1 is created
    • subtask 1
    • subtask 2
  • story 2
    • subtask 1
    • subtask 2
  • story 3
  • story 4
  • story 5

I want to have the subtasks linked to their appropriate story. How can I achieve this?

Hello @Wendy Chen

For linking subtasks to appropriate stories, you will need to create them after the story.

Basically, you need to set the automation to create the story and then the subtasks which should be liked to that story.

I have done this for a Task and linked 2 subtasks to the Task. Please find below the screenshot for the same. You will need to replicate this for each story for which you need to create the subtasks.

Kindly accept the answer if this helps. Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

Regards
