auto populate fields in epic

I would like my Epic name auto populated with whatever I populate in the summary field on my Epic issue type. 

Can I do that with the project automation rules?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Testing using the details you provided, I was able to create an automation where when I change the summary of the Epic, the Epic name field is also updated with the same information.
