While by default Epics are hidden from Team managed boards, is there any hack of some sort that can be done to make them visible for 1 project?
[Added whinge]
Have to admit I was so excited by getting a team managed project, and disappoint after disappointments keeps on hitting. Wouldn't the intended user for this be someone who is pretty keen to optimise the needs after the teams needs? I can't even decide what fields are displayed in the card view. :(
Welcome to the community, @Hanna Karlsson 👋
Please allow me to address your second point, first. What I have seen—here in the community and in person—is that many people tend to assume "team-manged" is just like company-managed, except the team gets all the control. But that's not the case.
Over time I have learned that Atlassian put a lot of thought into this new capability, interviewing many customers to understand the team and IT administration perspectives.
I urge you to read 'What are team-managed and company-managed projects?' (including the related pages) so that you understand the differences. You may also want to take advantage of this free Atlassian online learning class: 'Making Information Easily Accessible in Team-Managed Projects.' Hopefully, you'll be less disappointed going forward 😎

As for your first question, the answer, unfortunately, is no. You can only work with Epics in team-managed projects via the Backlog view or via 'View all issues', where you can use the appropriate issuetype filter if you wish. Learn more in this document: 'Manage epics in team-managed projects.'
I hope this helps,
