Trouble to add gmail to jira

Unfortunately JIRA couldn't connect to the mail server. Here is what the mail server said: "[ALERT] Please log in via your web browser: https://support.google.com/mail/accounts/answer/78754 (Failure)"

Thanks for your response.
An alternative email (it is a pure gmail) works fine. 
This one is also a gmail but it is hosted by Gsuite, and the email address does not have @gmail.com 

The error message is (copy and paste) - Unfortunately JIRA couldn't connect to the mail server. Here is what the mail server said: "[ALERT] Please log in via your web browser: https://support.google.com/mail/accounts/answer/78754 (Failure)"

Hi Janet,

Looks like some security settings on your gmail account. Can you check in your Gmail security settings if there are any "Sign-in activity" that looks suspicious (and was not allowed to sign in)? If there is, try to whitelist that sign in and retry the setup.

Thank you again.

I did try the setting to allow sign in.

I think the reason is that it is a G Suite gmail, it does not go to gmail server, it goes to GSuite cloud, a different server. Need to connect Jira to G Suite - in user management in Jira.

To connect to G Suite from Jira,  need to be a G Suite admin...I can't, need to wait for the G Suite admin, so cannot check it if it works or not after connect Jira to G Suite.

Hi Janet,Did you manage to enable email channel using G-Suite account ? if yes, can you please share the steps

Do attach a screenshot of the error message, so that we can have a clearer picture of the problem. Also, would an alternative email work fine?
