I wan to search the values of user input in the forms that are attached to the Jira tickets in my queue. See yellow fields in the screenshot below.
We have created several workflows that take user input & create a service desk ticket. All of the user input is saved in a section called "Forms" in the ticket. This section is similar to the Attachments, Description & Activity sections.
Using the JQL search bar, I can type in a query that will search the Description field for text XYZ with this string:
description ~ "XYZ" ORDER BY key DESC
The JQL search bar give me a drop down menu of possible values, but none of these suggested values relate to the workflow form attached to the ticket.
In the screenshot, we can see the Attachments & Forms sections. The Forms section has a form called "New User Provisioning" attached to it. This form has various fields, such as Job role, Employee type & Country. How do I search for the user input from those yellow fields?
Hi Ian, the form you are seeing is created by the app ProForma. Not every field in a form is directly searchable at the moment. Typically where people need to filter or search on the contents of the field we recommend linking it to a Jira field or custom field in the form template design.
It is definitely an area that we will improve within the product.

Hi Simon
Thank you for the feedback. It seems a bit of a mismatch that you recommend to "link to a custom field" when the main tag line on the product page is build dynamic forms "without using custom fields". 😑
I will investigate if this is indeed the case.

Hello
i have the same need, now the creation of forms is integrated in jira, is the "search function"by field available now?

Nope, still not available, which severely limits the benefits of the Forms functionality.

We have been using form fields and would like to try the workaround but are unsure if linking now, to a custom field, will erase the values currently stored only in the custom field.

Seems like custom fields are the answer for now. Thx Simon.
I am certainly hoping that you will improve this area in the product. My Jira admin is not fond of custom fields.
